Oregon notches third straight
with win over Seattle-Pacific
By Cap! Lynn

In spite of lingering memories
of Idaho State in the first half of
.Saturday’s game with Seattle
Pacific: University, the Ducks
came out in the* second half and
did what they were supposed to
do — heat a Division II club.
85-88. in McArthur Court.
"At the half we were talking
about what happened against
Idaho State, and we said we
didn't want it to happen
again." said center Sven Meyer.
Cuard Anthony Taylor agreed
that "everyone kind of looked
back at the Idaho State game."

All students encouraged to participate
first half reminiscent of their
62-57 loss to Idaho State earlier
in the season, while the Falcons
played tough with hopes of
winning their first game ever
against a Pacific-10 Conference
opponent.
Seattle-Pacific struck first
when it converted two free
throws after a Meyer foul, the
first of a fiasco of fouls that
would give Oregon fits
throughout the half and most of
the game.
The two teams exchanged the
lead four times in the opening
six minutes before the Ducks
finally established control.
With the score even at 11-11,
Greg Senior hit a turnaround
jumper. David Girley canned a
three-pointer and Keith
Balderston connected on a
17-foot jumper as Oregon took
the lead for good. 18-11.
Seattle-Pacific chipped away
at the margin, but the Ducks
held on to take a 36-31 advan
tage into the locker room at the
half.
The Falcons took advantage
of 13 Oregon first-half fouls and
made 16 of 19 from the charity
stripe to keep them in the game.
