Sir. in many states sodomy refers not only to anal inter course. to which you made reference in your letter, but ad ditionally to those sexual prac tices which have prevented many a teen-age pregnancy, fellatio and cunnilingus (look 'em up). This definition depends, of course, on whether these acts are enjoyed in a heterosexual or a homosexual/lesbian context. (In the case of the latter, in fact, not only are no anuses involv ed, no penises are either.) I am quite certain that most of us would not like to have our ac cess to these practices curtailed by law — as they still are in other parts of the country and the world. Far be it for me to presume that you will like the idea of these titillations any better than you like the idea of sodomy — but then the world doesn’t revolve around the idea of what you like, does it? You can com fort yourself with the knowledge that you can shelter yourself from ever having to engage in any of these. Safely sheltered, perhaps you will someday manage to get them out of your mind. lOth YEAR ANNIVERSARY Nov 21-24 ALL SUNDAES ON SALE mince radons Downtown. 861 Willamette Open Mon-Sun Campus 13th «r ttilyard Sun-Thurs until I I pm Frf et Sat until I 2 pm At base, Mike, you are attack ing not just one act of which you disapprove, but the whole idea of sexual freedom among consenting adults. It breaks my heart that you feel the need to do this. I suspect it hurts you more than it hurts me. Carol Queen Graduate. Sociology Sexual offenses Case I-aw — OR code 163.305 OR Law. 1971. ’’Sexual Offenses:” 1. "Deviate sexual inter course" means sexual conduct between persons, consisting of contact between the sex organs of one person and the mouth or anus of another. 6. "Sexual contact" moans any touching of the sexual or other intimate parts of a person, or causing such person to touch the sexual or other intimate parts of the actor for the purpose of arousing or gratifying the sexual desire of either party. 7. "Sexual intercourse" has Its ordinary meaning and occurs upon any penetration, however slight; emission is not required. 163.305 Law Review. Cita* tions: 51 OLR 492 (1977) "In timate Parts:” Genitalia and breasts are intimate parts as a matter of law under this section, and undeveloped genitalia and breasts of children are included within the definition. State vs. Turner, 33 OR 17 pages 137. 575. P2d 1007 (1978) sup dt review denied. Barbara Knighten Psycologv/Human Services Moral choice A recent letter by Michael (’mss contains some absolutely ridiculous statements. For ex ample: One paragraph ‘‘enlightened” us to the fact that not all teen-age pregnan cies are unwanted. Oh my gosh. Mike! Tell us something that isn’t quite so obvious! That many teen-agers may want their children doesn’t change the fact that there are millions who don't. Many of these will end in abortion (legal or not). People in this country are becoming sexually active earlier than ever before, and they are not going to stop just because you say they should. Providing information and even birth control to these people is only common sense. Perhaps conservative Chris tians won't be filling up the AIDS wards in hospitals, but be sure to save a place for them. Why? Because AIDS comes from a virus, and it doesn't care about politics or high moral standards. It is not the wrath of God. True, total sexual monogamy for the whole human race for one generation would wipe out venereal disease. Or we could just abstain from sex for the same amount of time and wipe out the human race. too. In this country, neither I nor anyone else has the right to tell anyone else what they may or may not do with whom or how often in their own privacy. If it's okay with you. Mr. Cross and Mr. Moore. I’d like it to stay that way. Damon Atherly Eugene Give directly Dori Molbtti's letter (ODE. Nov. 15) points out something which I totally agree with — the many deserving agencies within this community. I urge generous giving to these agen cies. but directly, not through United Way. I also urge people to obtain and read Planned Parenthood's literature for themselves, especially the “Federation Policies.” The objection is made by United Way leadership that their funding of Planned Parenthood is not used for abor tions. The fact is. however, that abortion referrals am made by Planned Parenthood, and abor lion is recommended as an ac ceptable form of birth control. (Manned Parenthood's state ment that they do not contribute to abortions is exactly like a pimp claiming that he has nothing to do with prostitution. Nationwide. Planned Paren thood owns and operates dozens of abortuaries. In public schools. Planned Parenthood's destructive moral values are being promoted to vulnerable, impressionable young people in the guise of neutral “educational" material. Were the situation reversed and Christian values taught in the school system, the screams of protest would be deafening. This is not an anti-charity stand. Sandwiched in with the many good organizations of the United Way “umbrella," is one that promotes destruction and immorality. If United Way will not stop funding Planned Parenthood. I recommend that we stop fun ding United Way and give directly to those groups which deserve support.
