In brief Comparable worth topic of lecture A lecture titled "Political Economy of Comparable Worth” will be given on Oct. 10 by Heidi Hartmann, the study director for the Committee on Women's Employment and Related Social Issues. Hartmann's speech will be at 12:30 p.m. in the EMU Dad’s Room. Hartmann has worked as an economist in the Office of Research. U.S. Commis sion on Civil Rights, and was a lecturer in the Department of Economics, Univer sity of Maryland and in the Woman’s Studies Program. George Washington University. She has held several posi tions with the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council. Architecture lectures The architecture of Boston is the theme of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts’ fall lecture series. The free public series titled. "Tradi tion and Vitality: Architecture and Plan ning in Boston," is partly funded by the Oregon Committee for the Humanities and the Stafford Fund. All lectures will be held at 8 p.m. in 177 Lawrence Hall, except as noted. Alex Krieger. a Harvard University ar chitecture professor, will give the first lecture, titled "Past Futures: Two Cen turies of Imagining Boston." on Oct. 8. Other lectures include: "Landscape Architecture in Boston: Innovation and Development," Oct. 15; "The Boston Public Library: A Palace for the People." 4:30 p.m, Oct. 18; "Preserving What, Where and How: Boston's Back Bay — A Case Study," Oct. 22; "Fitting In: CBI's Approach to Architecture In Bouton," Oct. 29; and "Making a Plan for Boston; keeping Identity in a Global Culture,". Nov. 5. The aeries will include Kenneth Melphand, a landscape architecture pro fessor. Oct. 15: Iceland Roth, art history professor, Oct. 18; lean Paul Carlhian, architect with Sheploy Bulfinch Richard son A Abbot of Boston.
