OSL hosts legislative workshop Saturday morning at the Capitol The Oregon Student Lobby is sponsor ing a legislative workshop Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in Hearing Room C of the State Capitol. The workshop will feature presenta tions on the legislative process and lob bying techniques, as well as discussions on the sales tax, other revenue issues and funding of higher education. "This workshop will be an opportuni ty for students to learn about the legislative process and learn how to get involved and have an impact on issues that directly affect them,” says Sherry Oeser, OSL executive director. Participants will include Sen. Ed Fadeley, D-Eugene, member of the Education Subcommittee of Ways and Means; Rep. Bruce Hugo, D-Scappoose, chair of the House Education Committee and a member of the House Revenue Committee; and Chief Deputy Kathleen Beaufait, of the Legislative Counsel. All ages are welcome. The event’s sponsors are Student Campaign for Disarmament, Latin American Support Committee, Sur vival Center, Committee in Solidarity with the Central American People and ASUO. Proceeds will benefit these groups’ efforts to achieve environmental pro tection, arms control and a responsi ble foreign policy.
