    Comic trio charms vicinity
A blend of jug
gling, singing,
gymnastics,
vaudeville,
political humor
and just plain
silliness make up
an act that has in
filtrated the
University cam
pus and several
local fairs lately.
The group
calls itself “Out 2
Lunch,” and
after viewing this
trio, many may
agree. But the
entertainers will
answer to Rhys
Thomas, Tim
Miller and Kenn
Glen.

bow ties, the group elegantly
acknowleges its audience.
“Greetings and saliva
tions.” reels Thomas, the
gymnast of the group, stan
ding straddled on both of his
partners’ shoulders.
Later in the act Glen asks
the audience. “Are you suffer
ing from first strike phobia?”
in a voice resembling that of a
television commercial adver
tisement. The trio cries out a
cure in unison: “Dr. Ronnie’s
tonic bomb.”
Audiences at least in
/
Eugene appear amused,
chuckling here and there.
Thomas says fewer people ap
preciate the Out 2 Lunch com
edy in Portland, less so in
Roseburg and not at all in
Springfield.
But they still carry on, hav
ing progressed from last year’s
days of practicing downstairs
in the EMU, when a letter to
the editor in the Emerald refer
red to them as “those hippy
jugglers.”
At that time the group was
composed of Thomas, Miller
and Pete Peterson, Thomas
and Miller have been juggling
together for the past three
years. Peterson left and the
newly formed trio gave its
first performance at the Coun
try Faire.
“We cut our hair and put on
ties so we’d stand out at the
Faire,” says Thomas. And as
they perform each juggler
adds his unique style, talent,
background and aspirations to
the final product.
