Comic trio charms vicinity A blend of jug gling, singing, gymnastics, vaudeville, political humor and just plain silliness make up an act that has in filtrated the University cam pus and several local fairs lately. The group calls itself “Out 2 Lunch,” and after viewing this trio, many may agree. But the entertainers will answer to Rhys Thomas, Tim Miller and Kenn Glen. Later in the act Glen asks the audience. “Are you suffer ing from first strike phobia?” in a voice resembling that of a television commercial adver tisement. The trio cries out a cure in unison: “Dr. Ronnie’s tonic bomb.” Audiences at least in / Eugene appear amused, chuckling here and there. Thomas says fewer people ap preciate the Out 2 Lunch com edy in Portland, less so in Roseburg and not at all in Springfield. But they still carry on, hav ing progressed from last year’s days of practicing downstairs in the EMU, when a letter to the editor in the Emerald refer red to them as “those hippy jugglers.” At that time the group was composed of Thomas, Miller and Pete Peterson, Thomas and Miller have been juggling together for the past three years. Peterson left and the newly formed trio gave its first performance at the Coun try Faire. “We cut our hair and put on ties so we’d stand out at the Faire,” says Thomas.
