Rules spell out bike regulations University bike rules are official now. thanks to the filing of administrative rules with the Secretary of State The rules explain what used to be contained in brochures in the office of public safety, says Muriel Jackson, administrative assistant. The rules require registration with the office of public safety to obtain a registration tag. which is good for five years. General state laws which apply to University bikers include using bike lanes from 7:30 a m. to 5 p m Monday through Friday, yielding to pedes trians and disabled persons at all times and warning pedestrians when overtaking them from behind Bike should also be equipped with good brakes, headlights and brake lights Bikes should be parked only in places specifically designated as parking areas or in private areas such as offices Bikes presenting a safety hazard will be removed and impounded and bikes left in unauthorized locations will be cited or secured by chains Fines will be charged for impoundment, or riders owners may serve as members of the Bicycle Safety Patrol at the rate of one hour of service for every dollar of the fine Money collected through the fines will go into a fund to be used for the administration of the University's bicycle program Any bikes unclaimed after being found on the campus will be up for public auction three months after being found New officials fill ASUO slots The ASUO has retained an acting director to head its state affairs department and has hired a senior management major as its comptroller Cynthia Bounds, an interna tional studies senior, will be dir ector of state affairs She had been acting director without pay after ASUO Pres C J Balfe fired former director Ed Razor because of a difference in opin ion concerning office policy David Smith, who is seeking a second degree in computer science, will replace comp troller Alan Contreras who sub mitted his letter of resignation in December Contreras' resigna tion is effective Jan 31 Smith was selected from a field of about 18 applicants, says David Gibson, ASUO vice president of administration and finance Workshop set Fundraising and scheduling policies will be discussed today in a discussion session aimed to help program planning for winter and spring terms Virginia Anderson, EMU scheduling officer Frank Geltner, University program consultant, and Jim Richards, acting ASUO director of Univer sity events will answer planning questions with an emphasis on such topics as set-up, lighting and sound The workshop begins at 3 p m in EMU Century Room E The session is part of a series of "informal informative'" ses sions being sponsored this term by the ASUO office of program development and EMU program consulting office JJrlC VV January Specials Network Penns Haircut included Reg. $40.00 long hair extra *25°° Haircut Reg. $11.00 Acrylic Nails $QC00 Reg. $40.00 “ Offer expires Feb. 1, 1883 20 W. 25th 342-7661 Course explores war A SEARCH class dealing with defense, deterrence and disar mament will start Wednes day.
