trl Photo courtesy of Wmdh*m HiH Records Shadowfax. a jazz fusion band, will play Saturday night in the EMU Ballroom. ‘Shadowfax’ jazz up ballroom By Debbie Howlett 01 the EnwraM Shadowfax. a nationally known jazz band, will appear in concert at the EMU Ballroom Saturday at 8:30 p m The band's second album, "Shadowfax" released by Windham Hill Records, has been in the number seven spot of Radio & Records jazz chart for five weeks "Shadowfax" is also a "top jazz album pick” by Billboard magazine The band describes itself as a fusion band, mixing jazz, rock and classical Their music has been described as ' ethereal, dreamy and delicate yet sensual " Originally from Illinois, the band is headed by producer/com poser saxophonist Chuck Greenburg. who recently performed at the Silva Concert Hall in the Hult Center for the Performing Arts with Will Ackerman and George Winston ■■■■■ «r Sharing the front line with Greeenberg is G .E Stinson on the guitar and piano Billboard called Stinson's acoustic guitar style, "lacy " The pair of musicians are joined by bass player Phil Maggini, who has shared billings with Muddy Waters and Hound Dog Taylor, and drum mer Stuart Nevitt, who's played with Raoul DeSouza of Brazil Shadowfax has been performing together since the early seventies, when they released their first album on the ABC label The band has performed with Jean-Luc Ponty, Jan Hammer and Alex de Grass!
