    Police nab
robbers
Eugene Police arrested
26-year-old James Charles Car
michael last Tuesday and
17-year-old Dane Le Wheeler
Wednesday for a number of
area robberies, including the
Nov 19 hold-up of Miller's
Grocery, 1026 E 20th Ave
Carmichael, who was
released from the Oregon State
Penitentiary a month ago, was
arraigned Friday in district court
on two charges of first-degree
robbery. Police also have
charged Carmichael with parole
violation and theft, says Sgt
Mike Cline of the Eugene Police
Department
The charges involve the hold
ups of the Oregon Electric Sta
tion restaurant on Oct. 25 and
Miller's Grocery, which is locat
ed in the south University area,
on Nov 19 Police believe these
incidents are the first and last of
about 11 related robberies
Le Wheeler is charged with
the robbery of the Electric Sta
tion and the theft of firearms
from a Lane County residence,
Cline says He is in custody at
the Skipworth Juvenile Home
and will be tried under state
juvenile codes, according to
Cline
A uniformed patrol officer ar
rested Carmichael after pulling
him over for a traffic violation.
He showed false ID that was
stolen during a residential
burglary, Cline says
The department already had
received information indicating
that Carmichael and Le
Wheeler, both of Eugene, were
the hold-up team, he says
With Carmichael's arrest, the
police had enough evidence to
link the two suspects and ar
rested Le Wheeler the following
day, he says
Police still are searching for a
third suspect
