Center gets
annual grant
University News Bureau
A $60,000 operational grant
has been awarded to the
University's Russian and East
European Studies Center by the
U S Department of Education
The center uses the grant,
which it has received annually
since 1975, for a variety of pro
grams, public lectures and
symposia dealing with Soviet
and East European culture, ac
cording to Howard Robertson,
center director and a library
professor
Robertson says this year's
grant will pay for library acquis
tions and an annual spring
symposium The center allso
plans to bring Ernst Neizvestny,
a Soviet sculptor who emigrated
in 1976, to the University spring
term to give a series of lectures
The center is an interdisci
plinary program involving facul
ty from nine departments in the
arts and sciences college

wood, Mo. He will offer
guidelines for improving layout,
copy, coverage and overall
special effects of yearbooks
Among the 60 workshops will
be sessions on all aspects of
yearbook, newspaper and pho
tography production

the Northwest Regional
Energy Symposium.
Weaver will kick off the
