Fishbowl entry to receive stained glass windows Stained glass windows will be the new look around the Erb Memorial Union cafeteria this tall The cafeteria, more com monly known as the "Fishbowl" for its round structure and abundant window glass, will undergo a $3,000 enhancement during October Portland artist Garth Edwards is the man behind the artwork Edwards will design and execute a lunch counter scene that will fit into existing window frames above the Fishbowl entrance. The art will cover about 68 square feet of window space Work on the project may begin as early as next week, Edwards says. "The glass is coming in from Europe, but they make it differently every time I may have to go down to L A to buy the glass " Edwards isn't sure how long it will take to complete the project "It'll depend It's going to take figuring out what looks good as I go along A lot of decisions get made in the actual doing of the work." The project has been in the planning stages since April Funds for the project are coming from money reserved specifically for art, according to University planner, David Rowe "The state sets aside one percent of any construction costs for the acquisition of art." Rowe says The art fund was created by the 1977 Legislature The money is provided by "co-min gled studei t building fees, a fund collected from all schools in the state sytem These fees are used only for construction involving non-academic buildings Police seek witnesses to hit and run accident Eugene police are requesting public assistance to investigate the hit-and-run death of Elizabeth Sandra Ingram Somebody, somewhere, knows who was driving the car, says Gary West, officer in charge of the investigation. It's a matter of getting that person or the driver to come forward, he says Two reward funds have been established to encourage witnesses to come forward An unidentified motor vehicle struck Ingram, a 50-year-old University journalism student, at the 1800 block of Cal Young Road about 10 30 pm. Aug 25, as she bicycled home from a pizza outing Two vehicles were reported seen in the area at the time The first is a light-colored sedan similar to a Camaro or Firebird, according to a police report The second vehicle is descr ibed as a short, narrow, dark blue pick-up truck — possibly a 1976 model A Chevrolet insig nia was seen on the front grill The truck appeared lowered all around with a smaller than usual rear window which may have been tinted The Chevrolet brand name on the tailgate, or dinarily highlighted with a different color, is the same dark blue color as the body The truck's rear lights are round and a plastic cover was seen over the rear license plate The vehicles may not show obvious damage, the report says Either vehicle may have been involved, but neither vehicle was observed swerving erratically, contrary to an Aug 26 Eugene Register-Guard story, West says The Eugene Fire Department found Ingram dead on the scene Ingram's bicycle was equipped with lights. West says The victims divorced husband, Claud Ingram, is offering a $1,200 reward to anyone providing information leading to the identification of the driver responsible for the woman's death In addition, Ingram's divorce support group has established a reward fund Contributors can reach group president Fran Simmons at 343-9572 Persons with information about the driver's identity can call the police department’s anonymous information line, 484-5188, or call West at 687-5131 WE MAKE IT HAPPEN AT’: RESTAURANTS ® 10% DISCOUNT between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. with University of Oregon I.D.
