Curtain 8 pm General Admission $5,00 UO Student/Senior $3.25 Non-UO Students $4.00 Robinson Theatre • 686-4191 Walton to try again in SD PORTLAND (AP) - Bill Walton, the 6-foot-11 center who led the Portland Trail Blazers to the National Basketball Association championship in 1977, will play part-time for the San Diego Clip pers this fall, General Manager Ted Podleski said Wednesday “We don't want him to play that much,’’ Podleski said in a telephone interview with The Oregonian newspaper. "We want to go slow and hope that in January he can play three times a week.’’ Walton, who has suffered a rash of foot injuries, was in San Diego Wednesday undergoing team physicals Podleski said he changed his mind in deciding to let Walton play. Walton had told the Clippers he would try to play one game a week during the 1982-83 season, but Podleski balked at that "Then I spent more time with Bill and we debated it," he said. "One day my wife saw how I was laboring over it and said, Are you thinking about Bill as a person or as a player?’ Spend Sunday and Monday with a few thousand of your closest friends. The Associated Students and the University of Oregon would like to invite you to two special events this next week. Sunday, October Third, the University and the City of Eugene are holding an Open House at the new Eugene Performing Arts Center, Seventh and Willamette streets, Eugene. The festivities will continue from 12 noon to 11 p.m., and will include a variety of performances, artists and speakers to entertain you. Transportation to and from the University campus will be provided free by Lane Transit District shuttle buses leaving from Thir teenth and Kincaid streets, just across from the U of O Bookstore. The buses will begin leaving campus at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning, and the last bus will leave the Arts Center at 11:45 p.m. Monday is the University's Fall Convocation, a general gathering of the entire campus community, and students will be excused from classes to at tend Formal proceedings will begin with the Con vocation Address at 1:30 in the Library Quad sunny weather--or in the EMU Ballroom—rainy weather. The Address will be given by Stanford University President Donald Kennedy, who will speak on the influence of science on contemporary culture. A major event in the afternoon will be a showing of the film The Day After Trinity about the first nuclear bomb test. University President Olum and Biology Professor Aaron Novick, who were both members of the Los Alamos project team, will answer questions after the film. The rest of the afternoon will be filled with a variety of speakers and other events. Join us all this Sunday and Monday. It will be an important two days for the University and you.
