letters Elegiac Once upon a time on a planet named Earth, lived misguided be ings programed at birth For cen turies and centuries they pro gressed and prevailed, through the twentieth century they mind lessly sailed. In the 1960's they actually stood as one, too bad they could not realize what had been won For those days were soon tossed out of line, and the beings hopped cm towards their decline Destroyed by material goals and false prosperities, Pac Man, jelly beans, and M-16's became toys of the eighties. The misguided beings had forgotten their past, too ignorant and self centered to comprehend the ef fects of a blast Black rights, gay rights, whales and seals, the right to choose, and school children's meals All were great causes but there was a major miscall, the madmen had created enough missiles to end all And one day it happened to all beings' surprise, the ERA, whales, seals, and Chryslers melted in front of their eyes If life still had existed the next day around, perhaps the be ings then would have found, that what mattered most before their great self-destruction, was to stand together and fight the con struction, of the bombs that melt all men, women, and children, regardless of their occupation, sex, race, or religion. Kavln Gilroy Sanlor, International Studioa Torture Snitching sweets from babies is one thing Salting them is another, but Fetal Facts has to take the cake with April 13’s informative morsel. "At 11 to 12 weeks, the unborn baby is very sensitive to touch, recoiling from a pinprick." Good Lord — they’re publicizing torturous tests of pre-infant agony What else is the little fella "very sensitive" to? Thumps on the nose? Vise Grips crushing the feet? Shades of Rhesus Monkey "experimentation.” If punishing poor womb-ridden tots is the aim of the Oregon Right to Life Education Foundation, then we ll have nothing to do with it Mika Martin Junior, Muaic Mark Nltzbarg Junior, Math i/ms dance • music • films • food ° poetry APRIL 27: The film “From Spikes to Spindles" Forum Room from 3:30 to 4:30 EMU Ballroom from 7 pm: • The Filipino Dance Troupe from Eugene • Great Leap, Inc brings "Breaking Out" from Los Angeles • Nobuko Miyamoto and Benny Yee present a 90 minute multi-media event FOR A SCHEDULE OF EVENTS, CONTACT THE ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION RM 12, EMU 686 - 4342 Sponsored by the ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION U ot 0, i .v. .v. *i< »£• •£' r»Tmrrnnmnni-rnnfi,niii 11» Make sure your parents have a great weekend!
