Registration slots
change next term
The winter term registration schedule
contains registration times that have been
changed since fall term
Registration times for seniors and graduate
students have been expanded, and only two
groups of freshmen, sophomores and juniors
register on the first time, Jan 4
But no one has lost their place in the system
Students who expected to register near the
beginning based on the fall term schedule keep
their priority, they just will enroll later during the
two days of registration, according to Registrar
Wanda Johnson
The schedule was revised because of a
large bottleneck in graduate and senior
enrollment in the fall, she says
Financial forms
available at office
The financial aid office begins handing out
1982-83 aid applications Monday in Oregon Hall,
Room 260
Marilyn Bader, financial aid counselor,
advises students to apply early All application
material must be received by March 1 for
"priority" consideration, she says
Scholarship applications won't be ready
until registration, but will be handed out there,
Bader says

Higher ed cuts
discussed on TV
A locally produced television show will bring
together educators, legislators and other state
officials Monday night to discuss higher
education financial problems and possible
solutions for those problems
The show, which will be aired on KEZI
(channel 9) at 9 pm, will "get together those
making the hard decisions," according to
moderator Jack Hamann
Guests include Chancellor Roy Lieuallen,
police superintendent John Williams, human
services director Leo Heckstrum, house speaker
Hardy Myers, senate president Fred Heard and
Irv Fletcher of the AFL-CIO
Lane County will be represented by
representatives Margie Hendriksen, Mary
Burrows, Peg Jolin and Grattan Kerans, and Sen
Ed Fadeley
After a review of the 20-percent cut
requested by Gov Vic Atiyeh, the round-table
discussion will focus on alternative proposals to
cutting budgets
752 to graduate
by end of fall term
Some 750 University students are
candidates for degrees at the end of fall term,
according to officials in the registrar’s office
Among fall term's 752 degree candidates are
475 receiving bachelor s degrees, 204
completing master's degrees, 69 finishing
doctoral degrees and four earning law degrees
For the second year, commencement
ceremonies — held at the end of each academic
quarter since December, 1963 — have been
cancelled for fall and winter terms to help the
University save money
Diplomas will be mailed to all who complete
graduation requirements by term's end
Grades available
on December 28
Fall term grades can be picked up Dec. 28
beginning at 8 a m at the Registrar’s Office on
the second floor of Oregon Hall.
After that day, grades will be available Jan. 3
from 5 to 8 p m., also at the Registrar's Office,
where staff will continue to distribute grades
through registration Jan 4 and on through
registration week
The University is handing grades out —
instead of mailing them — because it’s cheaper,
says Registrar Wanda Johnson
She says she's optimistic that the new
computer programs used this summer to process
grades will work well, and says the computing
staff has been working "day and night" to
ensure all goes smoothly.
