Swedes seize sub in territorial limit STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) — Swedish salvage ves sels prepared Thursday to refloat a grounded Soviet submarine after sub-hunting helicopters chased away an unidentified submarine and a Soviet tug cruising in the restricted military zone authorities said They said Moscow had agreed to let Swedish ships salvage the diesel-powered Whiskey-class submarine that ran aground in Swedish waters Tuesday night oft the southeast coast near the Kartskrona naval base Swedish Prime Minister Thorbforn Falldtn made clear that the sub would be re turned to the Soviet Union but “how and when will depend on the outcome of an investigation we have or dered conducted by the commander in chief " The unidentified sub was first spotted about six miles inside the 12-mile territorial limit, then vanished after be ing pursued by helicopters armed with depth charges, officials said A Soviet salvage tug was warded off by Swedish naval vessels after it briefly violated Sweden's territorial waters Lagerwall said Swedish helicopters, torpedo boats and coast guard craft were watching the sub and the Warsaw Pact flotilla Capt Kar Gunnar Anders son boarded the vessel Wednesday night and was later quoted by the new spaper Svenska Dagbladet that the Soviet captain claimed the submarine ran aground because of navigational error due to a faulty gyro compass and bad weather OPEC sets first price cut GENEVA, Switzerland (AP) — OPEC fixed a new unified base oil price of $34 a barrel Thurs day and froze it through the end of next year Analysts said the deal would add about 2'h cents a gallon to the price Americans pay for gasoline and home heating fuel But the world oil cartel also fixed a new price ceiling of $38 in the first official price cut in the Organization of Petroleum Ex porting Countries' 21-year his tory The previous ceiling was $41 Saudi Arabia. which produces about half of OPEC's oil, will cut its output from about 9 5 million barrels a day. Sheik Ahmed Zaki Yamani, the country's oil minister, told reporters He said Saudi production "will be less" but did not say how much The deal establishes a unified price structure for OPEC for the first time in more than two years, and under the terms, the Saudis will raise their price, now $32 a barrel, while other cartel members lower theirs The new prices are to take effect Sunday America consumes about 16 million barrels of oil daily Some 4.5 million barrels are imported, and of this, Saudi Arabia sup plies 800,000, latest figures show Kuwaiti oil minister Ali Khalifa Al-Sabah, referring to the price freeze, said, "For all of us, the consumers and the producers, it gives us a stable price for at least the next 13-14 months " The freeze, if maintained through 1982, would amount to a relative price cut because worldwide inflation is forecast to continue ^Jj | | Continued from Page Dewart’s class, none of them will probably ever match the ten-ball greatness of Rastelli But that doesn't matter, because each jug gler is working to pertect his own style.
