And, where would we be without the music school? Probably in "culture gulch,” or in a land devoid of conscious rhythm. You see, the University School of Music, like many other public purses and individual pockets, is relatively empty these days. Enter Chris Peters (left) and the Fighting Ducks Marching Krummhorns. Tuh duh! In an attempt to relieve some of the financial woes, the Music Graduate Group presents the Rites of Spring concert on Sunday at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall on campus. The Marching Krummhorns highlight this evening of musical lunacy. In addition, composer Heinz Bruno Yaya will participate, and selections from PDQ Bach will be heard. Tickets for this fun-raiser are $1.50 for students and seniors, $3 for general admission. Proceeds go for the purchase of simple necessi ties like paper, staples, music, and other equipment for the School of Music. ‘Anything Goes’ on stage The 1934 Broadway musical Anything Goes by Cole Porter sets sail in the University Theatre May 22 at 8 p.m. Sailing from New York to England is Billy Crocker (Michael Nering) whose efforts to win the heart of Hope HarCourt (Becky S. Van Allsburg) from her fiance Sir Evelyn (Thomas R. Nadar) gets mixed up with such characters as "Public Enemy No. 13” and an evangelist-turned-nightclub singer Tickets are $4.50 for the gen eral public, $2.75 for University students and seniors and $3.50 for other students. Welcome, Humble Pie Grand Illusions, the illus trious bar and dance floor on Pearl Street and 4th Avenue, once again brings back something from the past: May 2$ Humble Pie, re formed with original members Steve Marriott and Jerry Shirley, and new members Anthony “Sooty” Jones and Bobby Tench, lights up the stage at Grand Illusions. D.B. Cooper opens the show. Doors open at 7:30. Dinner with Chicago The Making of the Dinner Party, a film about how Judy Chicago's famous Dinner Party artwork was created, will be shown at the Bijou Theatre (Ferry Street and 13th Avenue) May 15 at 3 p.m., May 16 at 2 p.m. and May 17 at 12 p.m. Tickets are $4 at the door. This event is sponsored by the Lane County Women’s Political Caucus. The Dinner Party is a large table set with plates honoring women in history. New Games fest coming up New Games: sneakers, Prui, Hunker Hauser and Blop. A New Games Festival (free and open to all) offers everyone a chance to have fun, and everybody can play — from Little Leaguers to Little Old Ladies. In New Games everybody plays, everyone wins and nobody keeps score. The New Games Foundation is bringing to Eugene a two day training workshop to be held at Edison/Eastside Com munity School on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a m. to 5:30 each day.
