Official to speak on PLO Appearances by a Palestine Liberation Or ganization official on Thursday and the co-direc tor of Clergy and Laity Concerned on Friday will highlight this year’s International Week. Sponsored by the Foreign Students' Organ ization, International Week also will feature an international night on Sunday. The night’s festivities will include a fashion show of traditional costumes, a banquet of foreign foods and cultural presentations includ ing a live Korean band. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Admission will be $4 for students and $5 for non-students. Hassan Abdul Rahman, Permanent Deputy Observer of the PLO at the United Nations, will speak on “The Current Palestinian Issues” in EMU Room 167 Thursday at 7 p.m. Most Americans have heard only the “Zion ist” side of the Palestinian issue, Rahman says. The General Union of Palestinian Students and the Organization of Arab Students will co sponsor Rahman’s appearance, which will be free and open to the public. “Southeast Asia Today” will be the topic of a speech by Don Luce, journalist and agricultural expert as well as CALC activist, in the EMU Forum Friday at 7 p.m. The speech also will be free to the public. Luce has made several trips to Southeast Asia, the first in 1958 and the most recent this year. In 1970, he made world headlines when he, along with two American congressmen, dis covered the notorious “tiger cages” in South Vietnamese prisons. Ambulance service shuts down Eugene and Springfield are in the ambulance business, beginning today. The cities are handling area medical emergencies following an announcement Tuesday that the area's only private am bulance company is shutting down their emergency care and transport services. Bill Leonard, owner of Medical Services Inc., said at a press conference Tuesday that he is fed up with the financial problems that have plagued the company for more than a year. Leonard said MSI was scheduled to appear in bank ruptcy court May 11 with a "fin ancial rescue plan," in an at tempt to deliver the company Correction In an article in Tuesday’s Emerald, the math depart ment was inaccurately reported to be ranked 20th in the nation. It is actually ranked 30th.
