Ford named rec head
Phyllis Ford will succeed
Larry Neal this fall as head of the
University’s recreation depart
ment.
The job won't be new to Ford
i - she ran the department from
1971-75.
The department conducted a
nationwide search to fill the po
sition, according to Norv
Ritchey, assistant dean of the
College of Health, Physical
Education and Recreation.
Ford, a University faculty
member since 1961, was
selected because she offers the
department an ideal blend of
administrative and scholarly
qualities, Ritchey says.
Ford says the department
ranks among the nation’s top
four recreation departments
and the faculty is one of the
most qualified in the country.
