sports Oregon baseball squad takes on Wildcats again Oregon will face Linfield College for the second time in a month Tuesday as they host the Wildcats today at Howe Field. The Ducks defeated the Wildcats 6-0 April 6 when Dean Kegler threw a four-hit ! shutout. Dean Hummel (0-3) will pitch for Oregon in the 3 p.m. game as the Ducks try to redeem themselves from last week end’s series in Seattle. The University of Washington took four straight from the Ducks, sweeping ! double-headers Friday and Saturday while showing some fine pitching to go along with a heavy hitting attack. The scores were 6-0, 13-10, 11-1 and 3-0. "You have to give Washington credit,” said Oregon coach Mel Krause. "Three of the four pitchers that threw against us pitched intelligently. It was some of the most intelligent pitching I’ve seen in my 11 years here, ana our niuers just couldn’t adjust.” The four setbacks dropped the Ducks to 13-13 on the year and a cellar-dwelling 1-8 in the Northern Division, 5'/2 games behind Washington. Although Oregon’s only role in con ference play might be that of a spoiler, Krause hasn't thrown in the towel. “At the beginning of the year I felt any of the four teams could win it, and I still feel we're not any less of a team than the other three. We’ve beaten ourselves a lot of the time. “I feel, and I’m sure the team does too, that we’ll try and win the rest of our games from now on. You just have to play on pride, if nothing else.” Oregon's remaining conference games are a four-game series at home against Washington State May 1-2 and a three-game home-and-home series with Oregon State May 8-9.
