Tennis tourney
pits NW foes
against Ducks
Oregon’s women’s tennis
team will have a chance to take
on most of its Northwest foes
this weekend as the Ducks
travel to Seattle for the
Washington Invitational.
The two-day tournament will
pit the Ducks against three op
ponents, the University of Wa
shington, the University of
Idaho and Western Washington.
Oregon State is also in the
field, but will not face the Ducks.
“This (tournament) is a
chance for Lindsay Bartlett to
go at Washington’s best player
again,’’ said women's tennis
coach Nancy Osborne.
Bartlett, Oregon’s number
one seed, is given Ortegon’s
best chance at singles honors.
Rally cancels
squad tryouts
Tryouts for the Oregon rally
squad have been postponed.
The tryouts, which were
scheduled for Saturday, were
canceled because of athletic
department budget restrictions.
A proposal for a scaled-down
squad, with fewer people and
less money, is under considera
tion.
Tryouts for the smaller squad
will be announced after the
budget has been finalized.
