Final auditions
will be held
for musicians
The final auditions for the an
nual Ruth Lorraine Close
scholarships will be held Friday
and Saturday in Beall Concert
Hall in the music school.
The auditions will begin at
8:30 a m. each day and are open
to the public.
A list of the Close winners will
be posted in the music school
after the four judges reach their
decisions Saturday night.
Selection of finalists was
based on preliminary screening
conducted by University music
school faculty. Approximately
$55,000 will be awarded in
amounts of $1,000, $2,000 and
$3,000 for full-time students of
harp, voice, keyboard, all or
chestral instruments, composi
tion, music history or music
education.

MEETINGS
Classified clerical workers are having an
informational meeting today at noon in the
Instructional Media Center Studio D to
discuss union negotiations. Pay equity will
be the major topic.
The American Civil Liberties Union is
having an organizational meeting tonight at
7:30 p.m. in Century Room B EMU
"What Is Naturopathy?” is the topic of a
slide show and discussion tonight at 7 p.m
in the Eugene Public Library, 100 W. 13th
Ave Discussion will be led by local natur
opathic physicians Andrew Elliott and Ste
phen Messer.

Women and Minority Women In Graduate
School are invited to an open forum today at
3 p.m in Room 111 EMU. Support networks
and academic progress will be discussed
Pam Hall, contemporary Christian
recording artist, will perform at Central
Presbyterian Church, 1475 Ferry St., Satur
day at 8 p.m.
The Political Science department has
donated $500 to the Library.
The money came from personal contribu
tions made by political science faculty
members The only request from the depart
ment was that the funds be spent for Library
materials.
"Funding for the Library seemed to be in
short supply,” said Lawrence Pierce,
department head. "Although the money
contributed wasn't a large amount, it was a
symbolic amount to show support."
Other faculty and staff have contributed to
the Library this year by working on the
Blockbuster Barn Sale, entering the athletic
department jog-a-thon and donating to the
University Women's Club's Sponsor Your
Books program.
