University enrollment, credits rise
University undergraduate
enrollment and total credit
hours are up for winter term
compared to one year ago,
according to the Office of the
Registrar.
Total credit hours, the key
factor in determining the level of
state support the University
receives, is up 3.3 percent.
Undergraduate enrollment is
12,303, up 2.8 percent or 338
students from a year ago.
Total headcount is down,
primarily due to enrollment in
the Community Education
Program dropping back to its
usual level and to a decrease in
the number of students taking
graduate courses who are not in
a degree program.
Total headcount is 16,732,
down 97 students from last
winter term.
There also was a small
decline in the number of
graduate students enrolled in
degree programs, down 20
students from 857 to 837.
The unusually high
enrollment in CEP last year has
been attributed to the teachers
strike in Eugene and a resulting
high enrollment of teachers,
according to the registrar’s of
fice.
