Outdoor school offers study in Wyoming Environmental science or outdoor studies majors can gain practical experience through the Sundance Wilderness Center’s study program. Through the program, students spend a term studying on a ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyo. The ranch location doesn’t mean students are on vacation from school, however. Environ ment-related classes are held daily. Michelle Culper and Michael Sauls say they founded Sun dance to offer comprehensive study of the outdoor environ ment from a “holistic view point.” Sundance has one full-time professor, Ted Major, retired founder of the Titon Science School, and several guest lec turers each term. Culper says she hopes to get a dozen guest lecturers for spring term. The ranch, located on 125 acres near Titon National Park, is surrounded on three sides by wilderness, Culper says.
