Before 1975, the schools of dentistry, medicine and nursing were part of the University and were accredited through the University. When the three schools formed the UOHSC — now 2,054 students strong — in 1975, the institution began seeking accreditation as an in dependent university. In announcing the accredita tion, UOHSC Pres. Leonard Laster said the process had “proceeded without problems" despite the “many diverse and long-standing deficiencies (noted by the accreditors) in the resources of this institution.” The accreditation team reported deficiencies in the school’s finances, faculty student ratio and classroom and library space. The evaluation team also urged Laster to change the school’s name to eliminate con fusion between the UOHSC and the University. Scavengers find $14,000 WILSONVILLE (AP) - Three Portland men wanted cash for the cans they collected, but they didn’t expect $14,000. The men, who asked not to be identified, found the cash Friday while they were looking for deposit bottles and cans along Interstate 5 south of Wilsonville. State police said they found more than $14,000 in good condition. The men took the money to a Milwaukie police station. Police said they found more cash when they returned on Saturday.
