Ducks roll over PSU, 78-40
Oregon’s women’s basketball
team added another game to its
win column Wednesday, scor
ing an easy 78-40 victory over
league foes Portland State
University in Portland.
The win gives the Ducks,
ranked 20th nationally, a 12-5
season record and brings their
league record to 2-0. Portland
State is now 0-2 in league ac
tion.
The win also evens out the
series record between Oregon
and PSU at eight apiece.
Oregon has won the last seven
contests.
‘‘A lot of people played a lot,"
said Oregon coach Elwin Heiny,
praising the teams overall effort.
Three Ducks scored in double
figures, and for the first time this
season every Oregon player got
on the board.
Bev Smith, Oregon’s 6-0 for
ward standout, and Angie
Snider, a 5-10 freshman guard,
scored 13 points apiece, fol
lowed by Alison Lang with 12
points.
While Heiny wouldn’t single
out any single player, he said
Angie Snider, who added five
assists, ‘‘did an outstanding
job.”
Only one Viking made it into
double figures as the Ducks
controlled the boards through
out most of the game, grabbing
42 rebounds to 36 for PSU.
Smith again led Oregon, nab
bing a game high 11 rebounds.

have a 6-8 season record. The
Ducks shot 51.6 percent from
the floor, 33-64, while PSU
could only manage to shoot
31.3 percent, 16-51, as Oregon
was able to block shots and nab
rebounds away from the Viking
squad.
PSU did manage to pull away
from the Ducks in the tree-throw
column, shooting 66.6 percent,
8-12, while Oregon shot 63.6
percent, 14-22.
Friday night the Duck women
will travel to Corvallis to face
Oregon State University.
Oregon, which deafeated OSU
72-71 in the Guisti Tournament
earlier this season, holds a slim
10-7 lead in the series record
between the two universities.
The game is scheduled for
