et al LCC students offer dental care to public Many students have trouble affording the costs incurred when seeking the assistance of a professional dentist, but one group of students is helping to cut those costs while learning the dentistry profession. Lane Community College provides limited dental care through its Dental Hygiene Program, which is part Health Occupations Department. Forty Students in a two-year cur riculm study provide six ser vices to the public in a learning environment under the direct supervision of a dentist and licensed dental hygienists. This allows the department to provide low-cost quality service to the public. The following is a listing of the services provided and the cost of each: cleaning teeth (pro phylaxis), $8; full mouth X-rays, $4; bite-wing X-rays (free with prophylaxis), $1; flouride applications (free with pro phylaxis); dental referral, free; and plaque control and home care instructions, free. This term, patient care is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a m. to 5 p.m During winter term, the same services will be available Monday through Thursday. 9 a m. until 5 p.m. The facilities are located at LCC, 4,000 E. 30th Ave. Call 726-2206 for appointments.
