Gerald Ford will visit the University Nov. 14 under the auspices of the American Enterprise Institute of Washington, D C. “Ford’s visit will provide an opportunity for our own students and faculty to hear a former American president speak on the current political and economic scene, and we also expect many members of the community including high school students to turn out to hear him," Curtis Simic, Univer sity vice president for public services says. Tenative plans call for Ford to meet with community and busi ness leaders, speak to several University classes and attend a news conference as well as give a public address. The talk is tentativly set for mid-morning . Full details on the day-long Ford visit, being planned by the Of fice of Public Services, will be released when confirmed. Ford speaks at some 10 col lege campuses each year as part of American Enterprise In stitute's outreach program. The non-profit organization provides information to the public on public policy issues. Foreign flags fly The flags of three foreign countries will fly at the Universi ty’s Erb Memorial Union in Oc tober to observe the countries’ national holidays. The flag of Nigeria will be flying today in observation of that country's independence day. The Republic of China’s flag will be flown on Wednesday. Oct. 10, in honor of its National Day. Indonesia’s flag will be dis played on Saturday, Oct. 20, to celebrate National Awakenina Day. briefs MEETINGS An organizational meeting to form anti rape patrols in Eugene will be held tonight in the Law School lounge (downstairs) at 8 a m The meeting is being sponsored by the Women's Law Forum. All interested students, staff, bicyclists and joggers are invited to attend There will be an open meeting of the Eugene Performers Guild on Wednesday. Oct 3 at 7 p m in the Growers Market, located on the corner of 4th Avenue and Willamette Street The agenda will include the following topics: the acceptance of new members, the election of new officers and the adoption of guidelines for the legaliza tion of street performing Everyone is invited to attend.
