new Conservative government and the start of a two-week
swing through Europe and the Middle East
The three days of talks here will be the first wide-ranging

Vance s first meeting, scheduled for Monday with British

blackheaded government after 90 years of white-minority
rule.

Iran asks U. S. to keep
its ambassador at home
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran
has asked the United States to
delay sending its new ambas
sador to Tehran, declaring a
Senate resolution condemning
executions by Islamic firing
squads represented a “clear
interference” in Iranian affairs,
the official Pars news agency
reported Sunday night
"The Iranian Foreign Ministry
has asked the new U S. Am
bassador. Walter Cutler, to Iran
to postpone his trip to Iran until
such time as the political at

United States is cleared," the
Pars announcement said
In Washington. State Depart

Bader said there would be no
immediate comment on the
Iranian request
Earlier Sunday, Ayatollah
Ruhollah Khomeini, architect of
the Islamic uprising, issued a
scathing response to the recent
U S. criticism of his regime,
calling the U S government an
“injured snake" and saying

we want to do with the United

The resolution, adopted last
Thursday, proclaimed U S

At least 213 persons have died

The Pars announcement was
a new blow to already shaky
relations between the United

revolutionary regime.
