Burdman. 40. is former com munication manager of the 767 ♦ program at the Boeing Company in Seattle In his University posi tion Burdman will have primary responsibility for the Early Orien tation and Registration Program, the University's system for fall term entering freshmen to register and become acquainted with the campus during the summer before they begin their studies. He will also coordinate New Student Week and Interna tional Student Week In addition to his tenure at Boeing, Burdman served as a consultant in organizational communications to the U S. Agency for International Development in Costa Rica. He has taught at Oregon College of Education and Cleveland State University and served as the Loss Prevention and Audit Superinten dent of the Puerto Rican American Insurance Co. History professor dies Thomas Govan, professor emeritus of U S. history, 72, died Monday at his home after a long illness. He joined the faculty in 1967 and re tired in 1977. Govan came to Oregon from New York University after serving at Brown, Emory, Tulane Universities and the Universities of Vir ginia, of the South, and Chattanooga University dur ing a career that began in 1934. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, details are pending. Later there will be a memorial service in New York City. Burial will be in the churchyard of St. Mark’s CJiurch-in-the-Bowery, New York. Lounsbury-Musgrove Mortuary is handling funeral arrangements. 1 Thomas Govan The family suggests that in place of flowers those who wish may contribute to the Thomas Govan Memorial Fund at St Mary's Episcopal Church in Eugene. Contribu tions will be used on a non sectarian basis to help in the cdre of the terminally ill. Ensemble sets concert The University Collegium Musicum, a vocal and instrumental en semble which specializes in early instruments, will present a concert in the Throne Room of the University Art Museum at 3:30 p.m. today. The program will feature works by early English, Italian and German com posers The group is directed by Professor Harold Owen GTF course scheduled Spring Quarter the Instructional Media Center will offer to Graduate Teaching Fellows a two-credit course entitled, "teaching Effectively with Audiovisual Media " The course is designed to develop teaching skills Toffies to be explored include audio and electronic media, visual media in variety, the multi-media revolution, instructional television and commercially produced media materials.
