Participating families are re quested to bring their favorite na tive dish and an inexpensive “white elephant” gift. Other activities include a shower of coins for tots, disco dancing for teens and community singing. To defray expenses, $5 per family or $2 per adult, will be charged. Checks may be sent to Adelina Wirch, the treasurer, at 2365 L. St., Springfield, 97477. Participating families are wel come to sponsor non-Filipino guests and may pay for them at the door. Filipino Costume is suggested. The organization invites American Filipinos in the neighboring com munities to join this Christmas celebration at the Emerald Park Recreation Center, 1400 Lake Drive in the River Road area. For more information contact Dolores Aldridge at 343-3202. P.E. offers mini-courses winter term The Department of Physical Education is offering a new con cept in its service course program. A minicourse unit will be initiated for Winter Term only that will give introductory instruction in several popular sports such as badmin ton, volleyball, korfball and others reflecting the specialties of the various instructors. The miniseries will be spon sored by Prof. Jeanine Bennett in conjunction with a videotape lab required of students preparing to be physical education teachers. There will be a minicourse in McArthur Court during registra tion. r University limits access to student lists The University has slightly amended its administrative rule guiding and handling of student records. According to Robert Bowlin, dean of students and University custodian of student records, a major reason for altering the ad ministrative rule was to define more precisely policies covering the release of lists of student names — for example, a list of new students — to persons or or ganizations requesting them. The rule completely restricts the release of student lists to individu als, organizations or commercial enterprises seeking to acquire the information “for • personal or profit-making ventures." Bowlin said another reason for altering the student records rule was to re-number its various sec tions in accordance with state re quirements for administrative rules. In compliance with state law, a temporary version of the amended student records rule was filed in August with the Sec retary of State s office in Salem. At the University s request the tem porary rule was adopted as a permanent rule last week.
