The workshop is co-sponsored by Off-Campus Housing and the Office of Student Advocacy. Both offices will answer tenants' ques tions about the law during and after the workshop. Sharon Hill, Director of Off-Campus Housing, said the workshop will focus on major housing problems faced by Eugene-area tenants, which often involve some kind of negotiating with the landlord. According to Hill, the low vacancy rate in Eugene also poses problems for tenants because their threats to vacate often have very little meaning for the landlord. Hill said that these problems all arise from "tfjefcig problem, which is the fact that one or both parties involved don’t know their rights " The workshop is intended to benefit both tenants moving in De cember and those staying in the same dwelling. Tenants also must inform the landlord of absences of more than seven days to avoid being responsible for damage cold weather could do to pipes and to increase protection against theft or fire. Anyone with questions about the workshop can stop by Off Campus Housing in Suite 3 of the EMU or by calling 606-3731. peanuts ® briefs A1ESEC meetng today « 330 p m to Gibert 107 AlUrmetv* acHon worttehcp tor HPER.
