et al Coalition sets protest SALEM — The Religious Coalition Against the Death Penalty will voice its objection to Ballot Measure 8, which would reinstate capital punishment, at a public rally a march and a bread and soup supper here Wednesday. The public rally will start at noon on the steps of the state Capitol in Salem. At 1 p.m., marchers will move to the Oregon State Penitentiary from the Capitol. At 3 p.m . denominational meetings will be held for those interested at locations to be specified after the march. A free bread and soup supper will be offered at 5:30 p.m. in the Bearcat Cavern, Putnam University Center. Afterward, Bishop Jack Tuell will present the Religious Coalition s argument against the death penalty. China fellowships offered The Committee on Scholarly Communication with the People's Republic of China (CSCPRC) announces a program of fellowships for advanced training in the People s Republic of China. Seven fellowships will be given for students currently enrolled in graduate degree prog rams at the University with three years of Chinese. Energy series to start Robert Lorenzen, Eugene architect and research associate with the University’s Solar Energy Center, will deliver the first talk Wednes day in a noon public lecture series on solar energy to be sponsored this fall by the University Solar Energy Center. Lorenzen, author of a book entitled “Solar Buildings in the Pacific Northwest,” will discuss Solar Heating in Oregon.’’ Lectures in the free University series will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the EMU, room to be posted. University alumni add four to board Four new members have been appointed to the University of Oregon Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. Added to the board are Du Icy Ann Mahar of Portland, a 1963 University graduate who is com munications director for the Oregon Education Association; Nancy Drew Altenhofen of Med ford, a 1961 University graduate who owns a Medford clothing store with her husband, Greg; Carl Blackburn of Tacoma, Wash., a 1971 University graduate who is manager of corporate support communications for the Weyerhaeuser Corporation; and Greg Marshall, a 1971 University graduate who is president of the Marshall Leasing Company of Portland. Two Alumni Association board members, Jim Roberts of Spokane and Roger Martin of Lake Oswego, have been ap pointed to second three-year board terms. Roberts, a 1955 Uni versity graduate, is an executive with the Seattle First National Bank in Spokane.
