glen ozonewood all my children I know I predicted last year would be the end of my undergraduate career, but I didn’t make it, which means the column lives on. The first two or three install ments will be introductory, but those who've seen the show before should take note. Things have changed. And from Tara Martin’s point of view, they’ve changed for the worse. One of the standby crises on the show is the Chuck Tyler — Tara — Phil Brent triangle. Through a series of misunder standings (misunderstandings are a main ingredient of the show) Phil and Tara, who were high school sweethearts, parted the sheets. Tara was so crushed she rebounded into the arms of Phil’s best friend, Chuck Tyler, a young doctor with lots of bucks. Chuck and Tara planned to get mar ried, but Chuck keeled over at the Altar suffering from a kidney infection. With Chuck in the hospital Phil and Tara were free to renew their “friendship ”, and the news that Phil had been drafted and was being sent to Vietnam was enough to push them all the way. They tried to make it moral, but a storm kept them from reaching the justice-of-the-peace. They stopped in a chapel and ex changed their own vows, but Phil left for war without a legal wife. Then it really went all to hell. The news came that Phil was missing in action and presumed dead. To top it off, Tara discovered she was pregnant with Phil’s child. She married Chuck and gave birth to a boy she called “little Phil." Picture her astonishment when she learned Phil hadn’t been killed in Nam and Phil’s when he learned his “wife” was married to his best friend. For a while Tara remained Mrs. Tyler and hid from Phil the fact he was a father. But it didn’t last. Took a couple of di vorces and a lot of tears, but finally Phil and Tara were married and lived with little Phil as a true family. But it wasn’t to be. Little Phil, who’s since started going by Charlie (his middle name is Chuck) resents Phil for breaking up his mom and dad and has never been told the truth about his parentage: he still thinks Chuck is his real dad. Now Phil and Tara are living apart, Tara had a bout between the sheets with Chuck, and she's more confused than ever. Chuck’s tired of playing the fall guy and is pressuring Tara to remarry him. An old crisis heats up. But there are new crises in Pine Val ley, and the most interesting involves Chuck’s uncle, Line Tyler. A successful lawyer with culture cornin' out his ass Line’s had a tough couple years. After matrimony marred by divorce, Line fi nally found happiness. But his wife bought the farm, condemning Line to loneliness and despair. However, odd things happen on television and Line’s sister-in-law has shown up. Not so wierd in itself, but she is Line’s dead wife’s exact twin. Student hurt in 3-story fall An 18-year-olcl man suffered head and inter nal injuries when he fell from the roof of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity early Thursday morn ing, Eugene police said. John Chamberlin of Monmouth, was re ported to be in critical condition at Sacred Heart hospital. Dick Adams, a resident of the house, told police he was awakened by the sound of someone on the sun porch outside of his win dow in the fraternity's sleeping area. Adams said Chamberlin appeared to lose his balance and fell off the edge of the porch, according to the police. Adams said he could not see any one else on the roof. Chamberlin, a freshman pledge, fell from the sun roof of the three-story fraternity house at 818 E. 15th Ave. and hit the sidewalk shortly before 4 a.m., police said. Two other fraternity members told police that Chamberlin had been drinking wine and whiskey that night, and he became so intoxi cated that they had to put him to bed at about 12:30 a.m. Police said they have been unable to talk to Chamberlin, but investigation of the incident is continuing. New CBS station planned in Eugene Eugene residents who enjoy KASH-AM radio may be in for a treat. Plans for the construction of a third television station in Eugene were announced Thursday by Don Craig, KASH / KSND radio general manager. If all goes according to plan, the station would round out Eugene's airwaves as a Columbia Broadcasting System affiliate, Craig said. The other Eugene television stations, KEZI and KVAL, are affiliates of the American Broadcasting Company and the National Broadcasting Com pany. An application for the station’s construction was filed Sept. 20 with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by the Sterling Recrea tion Organization (SRO). That organization owns both KASH and KSND radio stations in Eugene. If approved, the new station would be the first commercial ultra high frequency (UHF) television station in Oregon. Before KASH-TV could begin broadcasting however, the application for construction will have to follow the FCC process, which includes a 30-day acceptance period, a 90-day waiting period for public comment, and a six-month investigation period. The station could be operating by the fall of 1979.
