Ndpvu is associated with the Zimoabwe Afncan Peoples Union CZAPU) led by Joshuo Nkomo which has pined m a coalition with, the Zimbabwe African National Union. (ZANU) led by Roben Mugabe The two groups are trying to unify their military and political units into a single Patnotic Front. Ndiovu is aiso director of Afncan studies and associate professor of history and political Science at Hofstra University in New York. Architects plan symposium for Friday evening A public symposium on ‘‘Educa tion for Diversities of Architectural Practice' will be held Friday even ing at 8 in 283 Lawrence Hall, sponsored by the Department of Architecture. Major participants in the sym posium will be the newly created Visiting Board of the department. Included on the board are such nationaly prominant architects as Joseph Eshenck, head of the De partment of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley; Pietro Belluschi, former dean of the School of Architecture at Mas sachusetts Institute of Technol ogy; Cloethiel Woodard Smith, an Oregon graduate and architect from Washington D C. and Robert Frasca. member of the firm of Zimmer, Gunsul and Frasca from Portland. Action Center to display art at first opening The Voluntary Action Center will have a grand opening at 1134 Ferry St., Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Local artists will display works courtesy of Open Gallery North west, and music will be provided by the Alder Street Quintet The Voluntary Action Center acts as a clearinghouse for re quests from agencies or individu als who need volunteer helpers. Self care classes begin "Take Care of Yourself First," the beginning of a series of Mental Health Self Care classes offered at White Bird Soao-medical Aid Sta tion, begins Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. The first workshop will cover an introduction to self care, concepts of balance, support systems and free time There is a $5 donation and registration is required For information, call 342-8255. ROTC cadet wins award Ronald Fuchs, a University Air Force ROTC student, received the Neil Armstrong Cup as the outstanding member of the National Arnold Air Society at a recent convention in Arizona. Fuchs, a senior in journalism, will receive an Air Force commission in June and enter the Air Force as an information officer.
