...et al Woods defender to speak A talk by Omowale Kefing, chairer of the National Committee to Defend Dessie Woods and member of the African People’s Socialist Party, will be part of a West Coast tour, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Grower’s Market Build ing, 454 Willamette St. Kefing was one of the founders of the committee to defend Woods. Woods is a black woman from Georgia who killed a white man who allegedly tried to rape her when she was hitchhiking in 1975. She was sentenced to 22 years in the Georgia Women s Institute of Corrections. Childcare will be provided. Joseph Rykwert of the history of art and architecture department at the University of Essex in England will present “Symbol as Lan guage as the first in a series of lectures presented by the Univer sity Department of Architecture. School of Architecture and Allied Arts. In the series, called ’ Architec ture As Language." architects will offer alternative approaches to ar chitecture. All sessions are free and open to the public. Program renews accreditation The Administrative Certification Program of the College of Educa tion has been recommended for another five-year accreditation by a state review team. Final action will be taken by the Teacher Standards and Practices commission later this spring. The new accreditation would be effective until Aug. 31. 1983. Pre sent accreditation expires Aug. 31 of this year. The program is offered by the Center for Educational Policy and Management at the University.
