Audubon group schedules film A film on the American wilder ness will be shown tonight at 7:30 in the Springfield High School au ditorium. Entitled “Twentieth-Century Wilderness”, thefilm is sponsored by the Lane County Audubon Soc iety and filmed and narrated by Tom Sterling. Admission is $1.50 for adults and 75 cents for children. Proceeds from the Pig Bowl will go to the Children’s Hospital School. Dance dept, dedicates theater The new Doughtery Dance Teater in Gerlinger Annex will be dedi cated Saturday at ceremonies following the Centennial Naming Celeb ration Concert. _ „ _ The dedication concert will feature the Dobre Folk Ensemble, a ballet selection, mime and tap dancing. The concert will be held in Room 353 Gerlinger beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is $2. Author plans store appearance William Loy, professor of geography and author of the "Atlas of Oregon," will be autographing copies of his book today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second floor of the University Bookstore. The atlas was a three-year project of the University's geography department. Along with 740 maps, the atlas contains facts ranging from the territory of each of the state's Indian tribes to an analysis of Oregon voters in all presidential elections since 1912. Poison weed warning posted The Drug Information Center has received reports of Eugene High School students experimenting with a common plant with a high poten tial for poisoning. The herb, known locally as thornapple, jimson weed, Jamestown weed and stinkweed contains chemicals which even in moderate doses can produce highly toxic effects. The plants are being promoted as an Hawaiian hallucinogen. Although awaiting confirmation from the State Medical Examiner, it is thought that ingestion of thornapple/jimson weed seeds was the cause of death of one girl, and necessitated the hospitalization of four other students in Roseburg, Oregon, last week.
