Candidates - On the question of city growth, about our urban environment, the quality of that environment and ensuring that quality is main tained." Murray, who is also presently a (Continued from Page 17) city council member, cited exam ples of what he feels are his major contributions to the city's govern ment and added he would "con tinue on with the same kinds of policies and commitments” if he is elected. Murray said the city would be "looking carefully at new industry, but we should stop short of saying it is a final answer.” He believes that new industry may not help the unemploy met problem at all. He believes that instead of importing new industry, local industry should be considered. He cited exporting of hand-crafted items and prefabricated housing as possibilities in this area. He also believes Eugene "could get a comer on the market” in the area of solar energy systems because he feels “nobody else is going to doit.” Citing the city’s proposal to cut the use of the automobile by 30 per cent, Murray said that al though he concurred with Keller’s statement that the auto “is here, we do have to establish challeng ing goals, such as mass transit, bikeways and carpools.
