Record holders lead field in annual Oregon Indoor tsy UtNISt HIUHAHUi} Of the Emerald Five world record holders head the list of another great field of athletes entered in Saturday s 16th Annual Oregon Indoor Invitational track meet at Portland's Memorial Coliseum. Record holder Al Feuerbach (71-7), of the Pacific Coast Club, tops a great contingent of shot putters including Great Britain's Geoff Capes (70-1V2), ex-Oregon star Mac Wilkins, and Howard Banich and Dave Voorhees of Oregon. Francie Larrieu, holder of five world indoor marks and last year s Outstanding Performer returns to Portland this year against the best field she has ever faced. Her competition should come from Simon Fraser s Maureen Crowley, and Cyndy Poor of the , San Jose Cindergals In the 800 meters, Mark Winzenried, world record holder for 1000 yards, should not have too tough of a race. The closest time entered next to Winzenried is almost four seconds slower since John Kipkurgat, the world’s fourth ranked half-miler, withdrew. Gary Seivers and Marty Bayless of Oregon are among the entrees. Jamaican sprinter Don Quarrie, co-holder of the world 220 (19.9) and 200 meter (19.8) records, will run the shorter distance of 60 meters in Saturday’s meet, a distance where he is also quite capable with a 9.2 best. Oregon's Chris Braithwaite and Bob Curry are entered, as is former Duck long-jumper and sprinter, Ross Blackman. The fifth world record holder, a teammate of Feuerbach and Larrieu, is Jim Bolding, record holder for the 440 intermediate hurdles (48.7) and American record holder for the 400 meter hurdles (48.1). Bold ing will run the 400 meter dash with a personal best of 46.0 His closest competition is Yaw Atuahene, Stat ers TC (46.5), and Tim Giesa, WSU (46.6). Both the men's and women's high jump are ex pected to be top events. American record holder Joni Huntley tops the strong women's field, and Tom Woods (7-51/2), Ron Livers (7-4V2) and ex-UCLA superman Rory Kotinek (7-4) lead a great field of high jumpers, all who have gone 7-0 or over. The Oregon Developmental Meet will begin 11 a m. Saturday, hosting more than 1,000 high school and collegiate athletes. The night meet begins at 7:30. The ASUO Program Executive Board, composed of seven program representatives, Jim Davis, ASUO Executive representative and a yet to be chosen Incidental Fee Commit tee member, will work with the Executive on programs and budgeting decisions. “They will also help with just day-to-day affairs,” says Davis. "The only decision we won’t involve them in is one where a conflict of interest might arise.” Davis says he doesn't think there will be any criticism on the formation of another board, because “we will be taking the decision-making away from a few people and putting it in the hands of many.” The board will also send three voting members to the weekly Program Administration and Finance Meeting, serve as a liaison to the executive board and plan program director council meetings.
