--...€k a\ UT to hold ‘Scapino’ auditions The University Theatre announces auditions for its spring production, “SCAPINO, the Young Vic's version of Moliere’s “The Tricks of Scapin.” Auditions will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Jan. 7 and 8 in the Robinson Theatre on the University campus. Director Thomas Gressler encourages interested peopl to check out a script from the UT Business Manager to read beforehand, but this is not necessary. The play calls for ten men and four women. Most of the male roles require some gymnastic ability; the leading role of Scapino calls for a great deal of it plus the ability to sing passably well, play a guitar (if possible), do impressions of Long John Silver, a Japanese karate expert, and an English soldier, or the talent and desire to learn all of these reasonably well. Two of the male roles represnt the 50-60 year old range; two female roles are ingenues, one is a 40-50 year old spinster. All cast members must be able to sing a little. Every person trying out will be encouraged to demonstrate any particular talents he/she may have in juggling, imitations, circus techniques, mime, musical ability, etc. At least some of the roles may be built upon these unique talents. Director Gressler emphasizes that only those interested in working within a “company' framework and willing to do more for the show than simply act, should try out. “SCAPINO” will begin rehearsal on January 12th and wi II open March 6th on the main stage of the Robinson Theatre. The reason for the changes is the new withholding tax tables which become effective Jan. 1, I976, reports Oregon revenue department director John J. Lobdell. “Oregon's tax tables have not been revised since I964 and federal taxes, upon which the Oregon tables are based, have been changed several times since then. We believe the overall effect is that a person will have less additional cash to pay when filing his or her tax return in I977," he says. For example, a single taxpayer with no exemptions earning between $1,000 and $1,039 a month will have $4 more a month withheld. While a married taxpayer earning the same amount will receive an additional $5 a month. Emerald corrects error An article on page four of Wednesday's Emerald incorrectly reported the location of the Learning Resource Center. The Center is actually in Condon Hall.
