U in the News By ROGER GREGORY Of the Emerald Four University debate team members gathered fourth and fifth places in two out-of-state tournaments earlier this month. Mike McKeever and Amarico Maloney took fourth place at the University of Wyoming Oct. 4-6, competing in a field of 57. Pete Shepherd and Stephen Herlocker placed fifth out of 60 at California State University at Fullerton Oct. 11-13. ********** Seven University faculty members and a graduate student were among the 806 Fulbright Hays scholarship winners for the academic year 1974-75. They are: Eugenio Batista, retired ar chitecture lecturer; Lewis Goldberg, psychology professor; Henry Goldstein, economics professor; Stanley Greenfield, English professor; Edward Novitski, biology professor; Clarence Thurber, professor of Community Service and Public Affairs; Donald Tull, marketing department chairer; and Alicia Harris, graduate student, who is currently studying Spanish Literature in Spain. These awards make it possible for scholars to study, teach, conduct research and lecture in foreign countries. ********** Three Air Force ROTC graduates received new duties last week: Ronald Sherman, Air Force major, is the new chief of the public information division at the Air Force Systems Command. He is stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Sherman qraduated from the University in 1954. William Perl Jr., another Air Force major, is stationed at Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, as a missle combat crew member. Perl is a 1953 graduate. Donald Metz, a lieutenant colonel, is enrolled at the In dustrial College of the Armed Forces at Washington D.C.
