Ducklings lose 37—6 to Pups Washington unleashed a potent offensive aresenal to defeat the Oregon JVs, 37-6, at Autzen Stadium Friday afternoon. The Ducklings played without at least five starters and were simply outmanned. On their second possession of the game, the Ducklings drove to the Pups' five, but came away pointless when quarterback Jack Henderson threw incomplete on a crucial third down play. A fourth down field goal try was blocked. The Pups in turn drove deep in Oregon territory and Gustave Clark chipped in three points as the first quarter ended, the first of three field goals. After Clark's second field goal midway through the second quarter, Pup quarterback Mark Kettle rolled out and found Lionel Perry alone in the endzone. Clark added the PAT to make the score 13-0. Henderson set up the Ducklings only score when he threw a 70 yard bomb to flanker Jim Churchill and two plays later bootlegged it in from the two. Bob Marshall missed the PAT and that was all for the Ducks. It was an all around bad day for Marshall. He was the beneficiary of an atrocious center snap on a punt and had to sprawl on the turf to stop the ball. That play set up a Washington touchdown. At tempting an onside kick after the Oregon score, Marshall just grazed the ball and it spun back ward to the 39, a one yard loss on the kickoff. Barker covered the three-mile course in 17:55, 30 seconds behind Caroline Walker of OTC, a former Webfoot runner. The North Eugene high school girls finished five points behind Oregon.
