ode the emerald s weekly entertainment section A varied weekend Photo by Dave Brookman Photo from E-UMA Siberian dance The Krasnayarsk Dance Company of Siberia, making its first United States tour, comes to McArthur Court for a single per formance at 8:30 p.m. today. Sponsored here by the Eugene University Music Association, the Krasnayarsk Dance Company features a program of great diversity, ranging from a Russian tap dance to a folk style theatrical show to a traditional Siberian folk dance. The 117 member Krasnayarsk Dance Company is one of the youngest as well as one of the most popular folk dance companies in the Soviet Union. The dances are performed by young men and women whose average age is 21, accompanied by a 14-member or chestra playing Russian folk instruments and a trio of singers. Following successful tours of Yugoslavia, Poland, Western Europe, Algeria and the middle East, the troupe played before standing room only audiences in New York City. The dance company comes to Eugene from California, where several members appeared on the Johnny Carson show. As of Tuesday morning about 100 free student tickets were still available at the EMU main desk. If there are no more free tickets when you get there, the Eugene University Music Association series ticket is an excellent buy at *5 50 This ticket enables you to see not only tonight's show but future performers as well, including Mary Costa, the Ferrante and Teicher two piano team, the Vienna Volksoper and the Gala Operetta. No tickets will be sold for individual E UMA performances, and today is the last day the series ticket will be on sale. 'Waiting for Godot’ and the Beach Boys Vladimir (James Edmondson, left above) and Estragon (Cal Winn, right above) wait tor Godot in the Oregon Shakespearean Festival's fall production of Samuel Beckett's modern classic. "Waiting for Godot" is playing on Fridays and Saturdays, beginning Friday, at 8 p.m. in the Angus Bowmer Theater. Tickets are available at Ashland and Medford ticket agencies. Student matinees on Mondays. Wednesdays, Fridays and Satur days cost S2. For further information, persons can call 482-4331 in Ashland. Meanwhile, at the Paramount Northwest in Portland Saturday, the Beach Boys perform, including Mike Love (right). Known for their 1960s surfer and California songs, the group has been getting into different types of music as of late, to which their "Sunflower," "Surf's Up" and "Holland" albums are proof.
