Band, films on tap for Fantasy Symposium The ween-long Fantasy Symposium on campus continues today taking advantage of the fact that today is Halloween. At 8 p.m., Upepo will present a program of jazz, Middle Eastern and Latin American music with visuals, mime and a belly dancer in the EMU ballroom. Cost will be $1. At midnight, three fantasy films — “Kwaidan,” “Sins of the Fleshapoids." and “Milestones in Animation” — will be shown in the ballroom for $1. Glen Canyon Dam film scheduled tonight The Outdoor Program will sponsor the Sierra Club film “Glen Canyon” tonight at 7 p.m. in the EMU. “The film describes the destruction of this Utah wilderness area by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam," said Outdoor Program assistant director Bruce Mason. “The shots of the area before and after the dam's construction present a sordid picture of how man's technology can perpetrate ecological genocide," he said. ‘Guru’ movie slated for this afternoon Do you want to find out how to stay high naturally all the time, free of charge? As the winner of the Golden Jury Award at the Atlanta Film Festival in September, 1973. the film introduces Guru Maharaj Ji and relates his purpose for living. Transcendental Meditation lecture tonight Marcus and Judith Lehrman will give an introductory lecture on Transcendental Meditation (TM) tonight at 8 p.m in 216 Allen Hall. The Lehrmans spent nearly a year studying with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and are now teaching TM in Eugene. This introductory meeting is sponsored by the Student s International Meditation Society. Trio presents progressive, avant-garde music Music for people into progressive and avant-garde will be presented by the Monastic Trio at the Music Recital Hall today from 7-10 p.m. Performing are Sonny King, alto sax; Ricky Simmons, drums; and John Mailer at the organ. Tom McCall, and David Frohnmayer. a University of Oregon Law School professor who is on the board of directors of Common Cause | Frohnmayer has also been appointed to a Blue Ribbon Committee appointed by McCall to make recommendations on conflict of interest legislation to him.
