Oct. 30 150 Science 7:00 & 8:45 PM Admission $1.00 ( ON CAMPUS J Fantasy symposium features discussions of reality Today’s fantasy symposium, sponsored by the ► Cultural Forum, features: — 12:30 p.m. Ray Hyman, professor of psychology presenting “a discussion and demon stration of the deception of reality.” — 3 p.m. A faculty panel including George Zaninovich, political science, Vernon Dorjahn, anthropology and Stephen Reynolds, religion, on “the social uses of magic.” — 8 p.m. Irv Weiner, master magician, presenting “a demonstration and explanation of the effects achieved by the Great Houdini.” All events of the symposium are in the EMU. Delta Tau Delta house offers thrills for Halloween It seems as if everyone is under-catting someone else’s price these days, and the theory can even be applied to that perennial Halloween treat, the haunted house. For only 25 cents, little goblins can have an ample supply of moans, groans, screams and various assorted awful experiences at the local haunted house. To be held at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house, 19th and University, the Halloween night event will run from 6 until 10 p.m. Wednesday. Children and their parents will be welcome to retch and groan along with the residents of the old brick mansion. The 25 cent entry fee will be donated to UNICEF, the official Halloween charity in America. Phillips officer to speak on business and government Sloan Childers, vice-president of Phillips Petroleum, will speak today at 10:30 a.m. in EMU. Childers, speaking in the Distinguished Speakers Program sponsored by the School of Business Administration, will speak on “The Relationship between Business and Government.” AAUP hosts Redden for collective bargaining talk The University’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) will present a talk by State Treasurer James Redden on Oregon’s new collective bargaining bill for state employees today at 3:30 in the EMU. Redden is the author of this legislation and is considered to be a leading candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor. Kesey sponsors film of Timothy Leary interview tonight Pleasant Hill author Ken Kesey tonight will introduce what is billed as the “premier showing” of a filmed interview of Timothy Leary made in Folson Prison. The film, sponsored by the Oregon Prisoners Coalition, will be shown at 7 and 8:45 in 150 Science. Following each showing will be a talk by Joanna Leary. Admission to the film-lecture is SI. All proceeds will go to the Women’s Transitional Living Center. Spe cific subjects covered will in clude cash flow analysis, re ceivable management, preparing for taxes, keeping the lid on expenses, analysis of financial statements, and financing long and short-term needs. The class will be taught by Kim Short, manager of Citizens Bank. SBA Management Aids will be given out and films re lating to small business will be shown. Tuition will be $8 for the fifteen hours.
