The group won a Grammy award in 1969 for "Oh Happy Day” and followed that with another Grammy award in 1970 for “Every Man Wants to be Free.” Architect to lecture Marshall Meyers, Philadelphia architect and associate of Louis Kahn will discuss "Louis Kahn’s Kimbell Art Museum: Form and Design,” in a slide illustrated lecture at 8 p.m. tonight in 107 Lei wrence. Meyers is the project architect of the Kimbell iM*t Museum at Ft. Worth. Texas. He has worked on numerous Kahn buildings. Currently, Meyers, who is an accomplished photographer, is a visiting critic and lecturer at Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana. .... His appearance at the University is sponsored by the department of architecture, School of Architecture and Allied Arts. Affirmative Action director to speak Myra Willard, Affirmative Action director, will be the guest speaker when the ‘Women In Architecture’ meet at noon today in the EMU. Scholarship applications available The home economics department is now accepting applications for a memorial scholarship given to the University by Edgar Stanton, according to department head Margaret Hiese. Stanton’s wife was a former University home economics teacher. Applications are due by May 15 for the scholarship which is open to any woman student (preferably unmarried) who is interested in the field of home economics. Although the applicant does not have to be a home economics major, guidelines will be set for credit hours that any applicant has taken in the field. The scholarship will be available for 1973-74 and is based on financial need. Applications are available in the home economics department, third floor Chapman Hall. Native American Pow-Wow to be held The fifth annual Native American Student Union Pow-Wow will be held May 5 and May 6 at the Lane County Fairgrounds. The event features dancing and drumming competitions by members of Northwest tribes. Tickets for the event which will be open from 1 to 10 p.m. on May 5 and 1 to 5 p.m. on May 6, can be purchased at the EMU Main Desk or the Native American Student Union, 15 EMU. Prices are 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children under 12. Athletic Committee members named Three public members-at-large have been named to the University’s Faculty Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics by President Robert Clark. They are Peter Murphy and Carolyn Newiand, both of Eugene, and James Larpenteur, Jr., of Portland. Their appointments are for one year. While members of the public have served previously on Univer sity committees, this is believed to be the first time any have been appointed to this faculty committee. The legislation adding public voting members to the committee was approved by the University Faculty at the February 7, 1973, meeting The committee advises the President on policy matters relating to the intercollegiate athletic program. Connunity McCall to address local groups Governor Tom McCall will address a joint meeting of local groups on his tax plan at 8 p.m. tonight at the Eugene Hotel. I he program is being sponsored by the Lane County Labor < ouncil, Oregon Federation of Teachers, Central Lane League of Women Voters and the Lane County Democratic Party. Books and magazines being collected Csed books are being collected for a Book Fair to be held at the Central Lane Family YMCA on May 3, 4 and 5. All kinds of books are needed—such as hardback, paperback, textbooks, fiction, non-fiction, children s, reference or recipe books. Also included are comic books, old records and specialty magazines such as National Geographic and Playboy Books can be left at the Campus YMCA, 16 EMU, or at the community YMCA at 2055 Patterson St. Profits from the Book Fair will go towards the YMCA’s $2800 goal for support of the Nigerian national YMCA movement. ... . _■ <ic 1073
