A caravan will be leaving Eugene on Thursday evening to take badly needed food, medicine, and other essential supplies to the Native Americans in Wounded Knee. They will be having a rally with Sid Mills, from Frank s Landing in Washington, at noon on Saturday and a benefit barbeque on Sunday. Supplies can be taken to the Native American Student Union at the University and to the Wounded Knee Support Group at 37 West 7th, Eugene. Workshops for Mature Women planned Two workshops on Life Planning for Mature Women will be held during the University Summer Session. The first workshop will be scheduled for June 18-22 and will be repeated from Aug. 6-10. The workshops will allow mature women to explore their in terests. abilities, and values, participate in small-group discussions with other women, learn from experts the advantages and disad vantages of volunteerism, work, or further schooling, and develop skills in making personal and career decisions. Women will participate in interest testing and receive in terpretations of the tests from qualified staff members. The workshops may be taken with or without college credit. Pre-registration must be completed three weeks before the workshop date so that vocational testing can be completed before the workshop begins. The workshops are being sponsored by the Oregon Center for Gerontology with partial support from the Administration on Aging and the Social and Rehabilitation Service of the U.S. Department of Health. Celebration will honor Cinco de Mayo A two day celebration will be held by Chicano6 at the University and Lane Community College on May 4 and 5 in honor erf Cinco de Mayo, commemorating the defeat of the French by the Mexican army at Puebla in 1862 and the end of foreign imperialism. La Fiesta de Cinco de Mayo will open on the University campus May 4, starting at 12:30 in the EMU with a concert by Mariachis and last throughout the day. On May 5, the celebration will move to the LCC campus cafeteria area for the day. Featured speaker for both days will be Robert 01mo6, Mexican Amencan reporter for the Oregonian. Events throughout the two days, including a dance on Friday evening, and a Mexican dinner Saturday night, are free of charge and open to the public. Malarkey receives Fulbright lectureship Dr. Stoddard Malarkey, associate professor of English and director of English composition at the University, has received a Fulbright Lectureship for the 1973-74 academic year. He will leave in mid-September to be a lecturer in English and American literature at the University of Jordan in Amman. Malarkey is a specialist in medieval literature. He joined the University faculty in 1965, after earning his Ph.D. degree at Oregon and teaching at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Bailey named voice chairer Exine Bailey, professor of music at the University, has been named voice chairer for the Music Teachers National Association for the next biennium. The University voice teacher recently attended the group’s convention in Philadelphia where she was in charge of auditions for high school and collegiate singers and participated in a panel discussion. ( Community j Town and Gown Dinner Dance slated The Town and Gown Jewish Community Dinner Dance, April 28, at the Thunderbtrd Hotel, will provide an opportunity for Jewish people in the Eugene community to meet and get to know each other. Cocktails, dinner and dancing to the Hi-Lows will fall under the $16.00 per couple charge Cocktails will start at 7 p.m., dinner at 8 p.m. Tickets must be bought in advance.
