The Kite Festival will award prizes for victories in the categories of highest kite, most graceful, largest, longest tail, first tree snag, most unusuai kite, best construction, most attractive kite, smallest and other categories. It is suggested that for safety’s sake cotton or nylon string should be used. The Kite Festival will be postponed in case of rain. Physicists to sponsor colloquium At 3:30 p.m. today in Rm. 16 Science I, F.M. Mueller of the Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Illinois, will conduct a colloquium on “Positron annihilation and compton scattering in copper single crystals.” The Department of Physics is sponsoring the event and coffee and doughnuts will be served in the John Binney Lounge, Science I, at 3:15. Film Society seeks applicants The University Film Society is seeking a part-time manager for the 1973-74 season. Applicants, who need not be students, should be interested and knowledgeable about films and have abilities in the selection and booking of films, promotion of programs, financial record-keeping, and employe coordination. The salary is negotiable and will be set by the society’s board of directors. Applications should be sent to the University Film Society, Box 3197, Eugene 97403, and should be received by April 24. Chicano Liberation topic of lecture Jose Perez, past organizer of migrant workers and a member of the Young Socialist Alliance, will speak today at 2 p.m. in the EMU Dad’s Room. Perez’ talk will be on Chicano Liberation and Latin American issues. Positions on Ad Hoc committee available The ASUO Executive announced yesterday that applications are being sought for two positions on the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to the Women’s Studies Center. The prime function of the Committee will be to advise and facilitate the development of curriculum relating to Women’s Studies at the University of Oregon, and to promote the Women’s Studies Center. Applications may be picked up in Room 308 of the Student Union, and should be turned in by Monday, April 23. ( Community Fadeley to speak at Demoforum Senator Ed Fadeley (D-Eugene) will address today’s meeting of the Lane County Demoforum. Fadeley will speak on the governor’s tax plan. Demoforum meets at the International King’s Table Restaurant in the Oakway Mall beginning at noon. An optional lunch is available. Outdoor Program to show Disney flick As part of its “White Water Week’’ of activities, the Outdoor Program is sponsoring the Walt Disney movie “Ten Who Dared” at 7:30 p.m. tonight in 150 Science. Come out and see the daring Disney interpretation of John Wesley Powell’s first 1869 conquest of the Colorado River. The public is invited to see the free presentation of this movie filmed in the depths of the Grand Canyon. Public library to show film The Eugene Public Library is showing a film, “The Eye Hears, the Ear Sees,” on trick movie-making today at 2:30 and 7 p.m. Admission to the movie is free. The library is located at 13th and Olive. Recreation planner to speak at meeting Stan Lester, Outdoor Recreation Planner for the Oregon State Office of the Bureau of Land Management, will speak at the Sierra Club’s monthly meeting at 8 p.m. tonight in Harris Hall, 8th and Oak. Lester will discuss Primitive and Natural Area classifications on Oregon BLM land and outline BLM policies in such areas as geothermal and oil leasing, timber cutting, grazing, recreation management and land planning.
