If so the Outdoor Program’s “White Water Week ” this week may help vou heed the call. “White Water Week” kicks off tonight at 7:30 p.m. in 150 Science with an introductory multi-media slide show on the Colorado and Bruneau Rivers, which the Outdoor Program has sponsored trips on. Kayaking, canoeing and rubber rafting equipment will be on display. Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Dad’s Room Paul Happel, from the Outdoor Resource Center, will give a slide show presentation on the Owyhee River. The Walt Disney film “Ten Who Dared,” the story of the 1869 expedition headed by John Powell in the first conquest of the Colorado River, will be shown Thursday night. While the films are being of fered to provide information and to stimulate interest most of the instruction will take place in the water itself, according to Bruce Mason, Outdoor Program Assistant director. Wednesday night an indoor kayaking session will be offered at 9 p m. in Leighton pool. “The pool offers a safe, easy surface for worried beginners”, said Kayaker Art Pope - On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon there will be beginning kayaking and rubber rafting instruction on the lower* McKenzie River Saturday there will be an all day kayaking and rubber rafting instructional session on the McKenzie. Sunday there will be an instructional canoeing and kayaking trip on the Willamette River. Correction University Graduate Ray Freedman’s name appeared incorrectly as Ray Friedman in an article in Friday’s Emerald titled “Cello Prog ram Scheduled. ” Freedman is the composer of a piece for cello and piano tided “Song of the Source.” Two dance discussions set Allegra Fuller-Synder, a dance ethnologist from the University of California at Los Angeles, will present two free public sessions at the University tonight. . _. . At 3:30 p.m.. in the Gerlinger Hall gymnasium she will conduct an informal discussion of dance ethnology in general, and the program in dance ethnology at UCLA. Dance ethnology is a field of anthropology which focuses mi a comparative study of dance among cultures. “Dance in Non-Western Cultures” will be the subject of a panel discussion at 7:30 p.m.. Monday, in the Gerlinger Alumni Lounge. Allegra Fuller-Snyder will be on the panel, along with UO faculty members Barre Toeiken, English; Janet Descutner, Dance; and Robert Trotter, Music. _ _ - She was scheduled originally to appear at the U of O during the Festival of Arts in January, but was unable to come because of illness. Her appearance is sponsored by the Festival of Arts, the U of 0 Repertory Dancers and the Student Dance Board. Forum slated on tax bill An open forum on Governor Tom McCall’s tax bill, sponsored by the University of Oregon College of Business Administration, will be held at the University Monday, April 23. Jason Boe, president of the Oregon Senate, will be the guest speaker on “The Governor’s Tax Bill and Its Implications for Higher Education” Following Boe’s presentation, a four-member panel will open discussion with Richard C. West, Dean of the College of Business Administration, as moderator. Panel members will be: Richard W. Lindhoim, U of 0 professor of finance who was director of the Governor’s 1970-71 Tax Study; Lawrence C. Pierce of the Center for the Advanced Study of Education Administration at the University and author of the recently published handbook for “The Freshman Legislator”; Bill Wyatt, president of the Associated Students of the University; and John Alltucker of Eugene Sand & Gravel Co. The forum will be at 7:30 p.m. in 138 Commonwealth Hall. It is open to the public. Correction In the Thursday, April 12 Emerald article regarding the state bill on telecommunications (Shepherd Criticizes Cable TV Bill) the amount of money which the new commission will cost over the present OEPBS budget was misquoted as being 628,000.
