Seminars offered on environment Public school teachers will be given priority to enroll in two special seminars on environmental awareness offered at the University during spring term. The first class will be April 3. The courses are ‘Environmental Awareness: A Kinship with Nature’ (Architecture 407, Cl 407G, Tuesday, 7 to 9:30 p.m., 252 Lawrence) and 'Environmental Perception and Response’ (Ar chitecture 407, Cl 407G, Tuesday, 7 to 9:30 p.m., 254 I^awrence Hall). Sandy Herbert will teach the first course, which will explore kinship with all other life and perceptions of thatkinship as culturally determined. Geoffrey Herbert will teach the course on environmental per ception and response. This course will have the following objectives - to enable participants to become more familiar with energy and material flows in ecosystems, to discuss environment on many scales, to explore basic cultural assumptions which conflict with an ecological conscience, and to help participants gain a dynamic sense of the natural environment, man’s awareness, and his institutions. Each seminar is limited to 15 members, and instructor’s consent is necessary before registration. Now styling & cutting at ANASTASIA’S Beauty Salon Oakway Mall ‘Guten Tag’ evening class offered again Ail evening course in beginning conversational German, ‘Guten Tag,’ will be offered again by the department of German at the University. The course is for residents of the area and is given free of charge. The class would be held on Wednesday evenings, starting April 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. in 177 Lawrence Hall. Helmut Plant, associate professor of German who developed the German Language course, “Guten Tag,” under a $19,000 grant from the Educational Coordinating Council, will teach the course. The evening classes will differ from the Guten Tag daytime course. There will be no homework and the course will be based on a series of black and white sound motion pictures on language. In addition to the language film, a German feature film will be shown at each meeting. To introduce the students to German writing, which is for bidden in the daytime con versation classes, Plant has selected five German silenh film classics with subtitles in Ger man. Most of the subtitles he will translate. Eckankar, the ancient science of soul travel, was presented through music, film and a question and answer session in the EMU last Tuesday night. After a few technical difficulties, a film got underway depicting a lecture given by the living Eck master, Sri Darwin Gross. Gross described Eckankar as “how you, as an individual, can take a trip without the use of drugs. Spiritual exercises done daily by Eckists consist of chanting one of many sounds, to ultimately reach the highest plane, called the soul-body, Gross said. In this body, the Eckist is above time and space, above the lower, physical planes, Gross stated. When the Eckist reaches this state, he can travel outside his body, able to literally be omnipotent and omnipresent, according to Eckankar. Gross said Eckankar means “all-inclusiveness with God,” an individual process. ‘There is not temple or church, except the temple within man," Gross said. If you are happy with your present path.
