Bill Bucy Editor At Phelan General Manager ( On Campus Japanese printmaking lecture offered The public is invited to a free lecture on Japanese printmaking after World War II tonight at 8 p.m. in 107 Lawrence The lecturer will be Gordon Gilkey, dean of humamt i*»s at Oregon State University and a noted authority on prints and print-making. Exploration scholarships available The Exploration Scholarship program, sponsored by HEW’s Office of Education, is offering scholarships this summer in the fields of astronomy, archaeology, anthropology, ecology, marine biology and geology. Expeditions from one to eight weeks will be led by prominent scientists to research sites in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, South and Central America and the United States. Applications are available from any of the ten regional HEW offices either by mail or telephone. Deadline for submitting ap plications is March 16. Grand Canyon movie tonight The Outdoor Program will present a unique movie on the Grand Canyon tonight in the EMU at 8 p.m. The Disney film is a vivid musical, visual experience and is scored by Ferde Grofe’s com position, “The Grand Canyon Suite.” Check the Outdoor Program (Rm. 23 EMU) or call 686-4365. Junior awards nominees wanted Nominations are now being accepted for three awards for Junior students. They are the Koyl Cup and the Maurice Hunter Leadership Scholarship, both for men, and the Gerlinger Cup for women Nominations should be sent to Shirley Wilson, Office of Student Ser vices, 207 Emerald Hall, by March 28. Include a statement of support for each nominee. WRA to sponsor lifesaving class The Women’s Recreation Association (WRA) will sponsor a li^^ saving training course — leading to Red Cross Life Saving tification — beginning March 29. The class will meet in Gerlinger H*SF Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. It is open to both men and women. Students interested in the class may register now. Enrollment will be made on a first come, first serve basis with a limit of 25 students. There is no college credit given for this class. Women’s Studies course offered again An “Introduction to Women’s Studies” course, in which 150 students enrolled last fall, is being offered again this spring. Jeanette Silveira, visiting assistant professor of psychology, and Frances Pozzuto, graduate student in sociology, will teach the course. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 2 p.m., in 331 Commonwealth. It is not listed in the University’s time schedule, but has been assigned the prefix and course number Psychology 199, with a tercM line number of 6938. ( Community ) WILPF schedules speakers At a meeting Thursday of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, Pam Baas, the new branch treasurer, will talk about her recent trip to the WILPF National Board Meeting in Los Angeles. The highlight of the three day conference was a report from Dorothy Steffens and Marii Hasegawa, respectively the Executive Director and President of the U.S. Section of WILPF, on their visit to North Vietnam. Guests of the Vietnam Women’s Union, they were the only Americans invited to Hand for Tet and the celebration of the Peace Agreement. All interested women are invited to attend the 9:30 a.m. meeting at the home of Beth Deutsch, 1784 Skyline Blvd. (near the Rhododendron Gardens). Refreshments will be served, and child care will be available. World Future Society to meet The Lane County Chapter of the World Future Society will sponsor a discussion Thursday on education for the future. All interested persons are invited to attend.
